Description Sometimes we overwinter swallowtail pupas in our house. And sometimes they emerge from their pupas during the winter instead of waiting for spring. This female spicebush swallowtail emerged in February 2011. I bought some orange alstro flowers for her to sip nectar from. We also offered her a sponge soaked with a sugar solution. Since it is cold and snowy during February here in PA, we kept her as a pet instead of releasing her.
Valerie Evanson Member Since December 2008 Artist Statement Welcome to my Imagekind store! This store features the largest selection available for prints of my paintings, drawings, sculptures and photos.
My fine art explores various mediums through abstraction and realism. Cats, horses, monarch butterflies and old buildings being reclaimed by nature are common subjects. Currently, we share our house with 3 Maine Coon cats. During the summer we raise monarchs and other butterflies as a family project. You can follow our monarch journey through Facebook as well as find educational info on raising monarchs and milkweed.
