Hummingbird and Bromeliad
This was a week-long effort to get this shot of a hummingbird feeding on a this pink bromeliad flower in my back yard last summer. Every spare moment I was out on the patio with my gear set up waiting and watching. For a start the bird would come by only every now-and-again, and then I had to get in position and not frighten him off. When I finally got this shot the planets were fortunately aligned for me. The light was right, the camera happened to be pointed right at the spot he was at, and I got the shot before he darted off again. A few more days and the flower would have been well passed its prime. It was already started to turn dark on the edges. This is one of my all-time personal favorites, and a top-seller.
